How to Upload a SCORM Package to Moodle (Step by Step)

You’ve got a SCORM package — a ZIP exported from your authoring tool or builder — and you need it live in Moodle. This guide walks through uploading a SCORM package to Moodle and the settings that actually affect tracking.

Before you start

Make sure you have the ZIP file (not an unzipped folder) and editing rights on the course. New to the format? Here’s what SCORM is.

Step by step

1. Open your course and turn Edit mode on.
2. In the section you want, click Add an activity or resource.
3. Choose SCORM package.
4. Give it a name and (optionally) a description.
5. Under Package, drag in your SCORM .zip.
6. Set Grade and Completion: pick a grading method, and — for assessments — set completion to require a passing grade.
7. (Optional) Set attempts and the grade method (highest / average / first / last).
8. Save and display, then launch it yourself to confirm it tracks.

Common gotchas

Uploading a folder instead of the ZIP; mismatched SCORM version setting; completion not configured (so it never marks complete); too few or too many attempts for an assessment; not testing on mobile.
